Privacy Policy
Information on the processing of personal data in accordance with the GDPR. Last updated: August 2026.
§1 Use of data
The personal data you provide to us — in particular name, address, email address, phone number, fax number and date of birth — is processed in compliance with the applicable data protection rules of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The customer data required to establish or amend the contractual relationship is used exclusively to fulfil the contracts between you and WSKIDATA — for example to provide the selected services, activate features and handle billing.
Data is not shared with third parties without your express consent, unless this is strictly necessary for the performance of the contract (e.g. payment service providers).
§2 Hosting & storage location
Application and customer data belonging to the WSKI Data software is stored on servers within the European Union (location: Frankfurt, Germany) and processed in accordance with GDPR-compliant standards. We conclude a data processing agreement (DPA) with every club that uses our software. The separate information in § 4 applies to website analytics.
§3 Location data (GPS)
Our mobile app (the "Cockpit") collects precise location data (GPS) for two clearly separated purposes. Both are explained individually below.
3.1 Recording active rides
During a ride, the app records the boat's GPS track in order to capture rides automatically, display them on a map and provide them to the relevant club as the basis for analytics, reports and billing. Recording starts when a ride is started and ends when the ride ends.
3.2 Boat watchdog ("Wachhund")
Optionally, the club can enable the "watchdog" feature for individual boats. If the watchdog is enabled for a boat and the device has been granted the "Allow location access all the time" permission, the Cockpit determines the boat's position even outside of an active ride, approximately every 60 seconds, in order to detect whether the boat is being moved or used (protection against theft and unauthorised use). The watchdog is off by default and must be explicitly enabled by club staff, per boat. While the watchdog is active, the operating system shows a persistent notification ("Boat is being monitored") that makes the ongoing location processing transparent.
Both functions are based on your explicit consent. Consent to share location can be revoked at any time in your device settings; the watchdog can additionally be switched off per boat at any time inside the Cockpit app. Recording rides is not possible without location access.
Location data is stored on servers within the European Union (see §2) and is not sold, rented or shared with third parties for advertising purposes. It is shared only with the club you belong to and with the processors required to provide the service (e.g. hosting). You may request deletion of your ride and location data at any time at office@wskidata.com.
§4 Website analytics and cookies
We use analytics services only after you have consented through the cookie banner. Without your consent, the services listed below are not initialised and no analytics data is sent to them. The legal basis is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR in conjunction with section 165(3) of the Austrian Telecommunications Act 2021.
4.1 PostHog
We use PostHog (PostHog, Inc.) to analyse page views and interactions pseudonymously. Data processed may include a random visitor identifier, pages viewed, referring source, time, browser and device information, and interactions with the website. Data is sent to the PostHog EU endpoint used by us. Session recordings and automatic error capture are disabled in our website integration.
After you consent, PostHog stores first-party cookies or browser-storage entries to recognise a pseudonymous visitor. Our website integration limits their lifetime to 180 days.
4.2 Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Google Analytics processes information including page views, session and interaction data, approximate location, and browser and device information. We have disabled advertising storage, personalised advertising and Google Signals in our website integration.
After you consent, Google Analytics uses first-party cookies including _ga and _ga_<ID> to distinguish pseudonymous visitors and sessions. Our website integration limits their lifetime to 180 days. Google may also process data outside the European Union. In such cases, the safeguards offered by Google and the applicable legal requirements for international data transfers apply.
4.3 Withdrawing consent
Your choice is stored in your browser for 180 days. You can withdraw or grant your consent again at any time with effect for the future by using the “Cookie settings” button at the bottom of the page. When consent is withdrawn, we disable analytics and attempt to remove the analytics cookies and browser-storage entries set by these services. Rejecting analytics does not affect your use of the website.
§5 Your rights
You have the right at any time to access, rectify, erase, restrict the processing of, port and object to the processing of your data. Please direct any such requests to office@wskidata.com.
§6 Severability
Should any provision of this agreement be or become invalid, this shall not affect the validity of the remainder of the agreement. The invalid provision shall be replaced by the applicable statutory rule.
§7 Applicable law
The contractual relationship is governed exclusively by Austrian law — excluding the rules of international private law and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods — regardless of where the contracting parties are domiciled.
